Abstract
•Exertional inspiratory capacity (IC) has been widely used to track operating lung volumes.•IC can decrease due to dynamic hyperinflation or dynamic inspiratory muscle force reduction.•IC decreased in some CHF patients without a reduction in inspiratory muscle strength.•Thus, IC measurements can be reliably used to track respiratory mechanics in CHF.
