Objectives: Atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is characterized by a chronic inflammatory response in which activation of leukocytes plays a central role. Acute and chronic hyperglycemia may be involved in this leukocyte activation. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of acute and chronic glycaemia on leukocyte activation in patients with a wide range of insulin sensitivity.
