CASP3 genetic variants and susceptibility to atrial fibrillation in Chinese Han population

•We examine the association between five SNPs in CASP3 gene and AF.•The genotypic and allelic frequency of rs4647602 was different between two groups.•Compared with CC genotype carriers, AA genotype carriers had increased risk of AF.•The rs4647602 was associated with increased risk of AF under three genetic models.•There was no association between the other four SNPs and AF.
