Theoretical research of ultimate bearing capacity of steel tubular tranmission tower's joints with annular plane

Based upon the ring-generator separation model, this paper used the virtual work principle to disscuss the ultimate strength calculation method of joints with none annular plate and 1/4 annular plate. Two recommended formulas are proposed and compared with the specifications and other research results. It shows that the recommended formulas are in good agreement with the experimental and numerical results, and provide a theoretical reference for the joints' design.
