Abstract
Pb-210 and Cs-137 dating techniques are used to characterize recent peat accumulation rates of alpine peatlands located in Zoige, Tibetan plateau. Several cores were collected in different parts of the peatlands. Cores were Pb-210- and Cs-137-dated, and these data were used to calculate sediment accumulation rates. Ranges of dry mass accumulation rates were 0.021 similar to 0.048 g cm(-2) yr(-1) (the mean value is 0.033 g cm(-2) yr(-1)). The mean sediment fluxes of SOC, LC and TN in the marsh soil were 113 g m(-2) yr(-1), 12 g m(-2) yr(-1) and 5 g m(-2) yr(-1) seperatly during 1952 similar to 2004 using Cs-137 and Pb-210 techenique. The changes of SOC, TN and LC accumulation flux were similar with that of the temperature of May. (C) 2010 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
