No Multiatom Resonances Observed In X-Ray Fluorescence

We present a study of the effects of interatomic multiatom resonant photoemission monitored by soft x-ray emission. Thr partial fluorescence yield of certain transitions F K alpha and C K alpha is measured while the excitation energy is scanned through the higher lying thresholds (La M-4.5 and Ti L-2,L-3, respectively) of the neighboring atoms in the multicomponent systems (LaF3,TixNb1-xC). No evidence for a resonant enhancement in the fluorescence signal as suggested by the multiatom resonant photoemission effect is found.
