Abstract
Summary  The report describes a patient who developed a systolic murmur following a myocardial infarct. A diagnosis of rupture of the interventricular septum was made non-invasively by Doppler Echocardiography and the diagnosis was confirmed at cardiac catheterization. The report indicates that this technique provides a safe, early and accurate method of diagnosing this potentially treatable complication of myocardial infarction.
