Flexibility Exploration in Intergrated Energy Systems: A Survey

The integration of renewable energy into the power system requires a high degree of system flexibility. This flexibility can be achieved not only through the utilization of flexible resources within the power system but also through the coupling of different components in an integrated energy system, including thermal, gas, and electricity. The integrated energy system, which encompasses multiple energy carriers and storage technologies, can contribute significantly to enhancing the overall flexibility of the system. This survey will summarize the sources and the constraints of flexibility in integrated energy systems, as well as the methods to enhance flexibility.
