Rotated Dual-Split Circular CSRR Loaded Homogeneous Metasurface Backed HOM Suppressed Polarization Diversified MPA

In this paper, we design a Rotated Dual-Split Circular CSRR (RDS-CCSRR) loaded Isotropic Homogeneous Metasurface (IIM) backed higher order mode (HOM) suppressed microstrip patch antenna (MPA). The proposed antenna exhibits dual band response at 3.54 GHz and 4.375 GHz with overall size of $0.19 \lambda_{0} \times 0.19 \lambda_{0}$, where $\lambda_{0}$ is the free space wavelength at 3.54 GHz. To suppress the higher order modes (HOMs), probe through hole (PTH) has been introduced near CSRR. An Inhomogeneous, Isotropic metasurface (IIM) has been backed with RDS-CCSRR loaded patch to modulate the surface wave characteristics which effects the polarization behavior of the overall antenna. The proposed IIM backed CSRR loaded MPA achieves $\mathrm{S}_{11}\lt-18.5$ dB in dual bands with improved realized gain and undistorted hemispherical radiation pattern. Behavior of Polarization control through metasurface backing and substrate height variation is observed into this article.
