Simulation and Experimental Evaluation of an IoT-Based 6-phase Induction Motor Drive

This paper presents a solution for controlling 6-phase induction motor drives using Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The main objective of this work is to develop an easy and efficient system that can be used for various industrial and commercial applications. The proposed system consists of a 6-phase motor, a 6-phase inverter, a microcontroller, and wired and wireless IOT controlling modules. The microcontroller is used to generate the pulse width modulation (PWM) signals required for driving the 6-phase inverter. The IoT modules are used to enable remote control of this induction motor drive. The proposed drive system will be operated in two operation modes. The two operation modes are the Constant frequency control (CFC) and variable frequency drive (VFD) operation modes. An experimental prototype of the proposed system is developed and tested. Results demonstrate its effectiveness and efficiency. The proposed system is deemed suitable option for small businesses and home automation applications.
