Longitudinal patterns of intermittent oral corticosteroid use for asthma in the UK

Over half of patients given intermittent oral corticosteroids (even sporadically) for asthma will become frequent users; the more frequent their pattern, the more likely and more rapidly they progress to frequent use in the future. There is a need to break this cycle, preventing that initial step onto the frequent intermittent OCS escalator.
