Secure and Privacy-Preserving Communications for Emotion-Aided Systems

Our lives are undergoing essential changes due to information technologies. Affective computing, as an information technology closely related to human beings, is a bridge between machines and humans. The development direction, innovation, and applications of affective computing could greatly influence the relationship between machines and humans and further prompt the development of emotion-aided systems. This paper summarizes the state-of-the-art technologies in affective computing and analyzes the existing problems and technical bottlenecks. Especially, this paper mainly focuses on the security and privacy issues in emotion-aided systems. We found that the essential role of cryptography technologies in protecting emotion-aided systems has been underestimated and unsystematic. Accordingly, we present a framework for security and privacy protections in emotion-aided systems. Finally, the security evaluation for emotion-aided systems is introduced followed by a brief introduction to secure system construction.
