摘要

•MgSO4/ZrO2 with lewis acid and base sites were prepared.•99 % of α-(trifluoromethyl) benzyl alcohol can be yield over MgSO4/ZrO2 at room temperature.•The active sites on the surface of MgSO4/ZrO2 were investigated by the adsorption/reaction heat with the microcalorimeter.•The reaction synergistical mechanism of lewis acid and base for the reaction was proposed.
