Dual-Channel Isolated Gate Driver Power Supply Based on Ultrasonic Power Transmission Technology

Power electronic converters are the key devices of DC microgrids, which makes the power system highly efficient and reliable to access distributed generations and loads. The power semiconductor devices used in the converter demand gate drivers with high voltage withstanding capability and good anti-electromagnetic interference performance. An isolated gate driver to meet these challenging requirements is presented in this article. A novel isolated gate driver power supply using ultrasonic power transmission technology with a symmetrical acoustic transmission structure for dual-channel synchronous output is proposed. The transmitter piezoelectric ceramic of the ultrasonic power transmission system along with its transmitter circuit have been epoxy encapsulated to achieve a very high breakdown voltage. The experimental results are obtained from a gate driver application platform to demonstrate the validity of the proposed isolated gate driver power supply.
