Energy-Efficient Cell-Free Massive MIMO Systems Based on Radio Stripe.

The conventional Cell-Free massive MIMO architecture typically requires a dedicated forward channel and power supply for each access point (AP), resulting in a high number of forward connections. To mitigate these cost limitations, we employ a Cell-Free massive MIMO system with radio striping and propose a channel gain-based access point selection algorithm for system deployment. Our algorithm aims to reduce the power consumption of APs, while the radio stripe lowers the necessary forward link capacity. Through extensive simulations, we demonstrate that our approach significantly decreases the AP power consumption by approximately 30% without compromising the system spectral efficiency(SE) requirements.
