Fast Gridless DOA Estimation with Multiple Frequencies Using Synthetic Sparse Planar Array.

Direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation is a significant problem in signal processing, with DOA estimation under the multi-frequency model being a recent research hot-spot. However, existing methods suffer from grid mismatch and high computation complexity. In this paper, a fast and gridless single target DOA estimation algorithm under the multi-frequency model is proposed. We use a synthetic sparse planar array (SSPA) to characterize the multi-frequency model, and formulate the DOA estimation problem as a matrix completion problem that can be solved using the Funk-SVD algorithm. We also explore the DOA identifiable conditions of SSPA. Furthermore, numerical results demonstrate that our proposed method improves DOA estimation performance and has superior running speed.
