Network topology and bandwidth optimization for communication enhancement of multi-UAV system

UAV communication network is an important supplement to traditional ground communication networks. The deployment optimization of the UAV communication network has the characteristics of diverse performance requirements, complex users’ requirement on ground, and strong node mobility. Therefore, given the above characteristics, we consider the network topology optimization problem of multi-UAV system to enhance its communication capability. We make the following contributions: Firstly, considering user coverage, link load, and link stability, a multi-objective optimization measurement model is established. Secondly, due to the different communication requirements and bandwidth of the users in each area, we introduce Optimized Link State Routing(OLSR) strategy to ensure the reliability of information transmission. Thirdly, the existence of multiple communication performance optimization indicators in the UAV network leads a higher dimension of the multi-objective optimization problem, bringing greater convergence pressure to the entire algorithm. We introduce chaotic sequences to improve the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II(NSGA-II) to retain more good solution sets and ease the convergence pressure of the whole algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed optimization strategy and improved NSGA-II algorithm is verified by numerical experiment.
