Numerical simulation method of erosion–corrosion of high-pressure X65 pipe bends in CO2 corrosion environment

This study aims at proposing a numerical simulation method of the erosion–corrosion (EC) of high-pressure pipe caused by solid–liquid two phase flow and acid aggressive solution. A modified flow-accelerated corrosion (FAC) model and Stress-accelerated Erosion (SAE) model were proposed. For EC prediction, both stress-accelerated erosion (SAE) and corrosion (SAC) effects, the FAC effect, and the synergistic effect between erosion and corrosion, including erosion-enhanced corrosion (CE) and corrosion-enhanced erosion (EC), were all considered, and the total EC damage was obtained based on the linear cumulative damage rule. After model validation, a thoroughly parametric study was carried out, including the effect of flow velocity, operation pressure, mass flow rate, and particle size. Besides, the erosion scar on damage evolution was also discussed, and the proportion of each damage component in total EC damage is systematically studied.
