Bulk anisotropic Nd2Fe14B/α-Fe nanocomposite magnet prepared by hot rolling

•A large-sized anisotropic NdFeB-type magnet was prepared by commercial hot rolling.•Hot rolling is a simpler technique compared to conventional methods.•Small grain sizes were realized by the ultra-short thermal process.•A texture of Nd2Fe14B phase was obtained, although the α-Fe phase content is high.
