Modeling of compressible homogeneous sheared non-isentropic turbulence: comparison between isothermal and isobaric initial conditions results

In this study, we use Rapid Distortion Theory (RDT) to simulate compressible homogeneous sheared turbulence in the non-isentropic hypothesis of fluctuating flow. This linear model permits us to analyze compressibility effects on structure and thermal properties of the turbulence. The analysis concerns the root mean square (rms) of thermodynamic variables fluctuations and correlations between them. RDT results are obtained for isothermal and isobaric initial conditions. A comparison between these results is carried out for different values of initial gradient Mach number, which is a compressibility indicator parameter.
