Hollow structured CdS@ZnIn2S4 Z-scheme heterojunction for bifunctional photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and selective benzylamine oxidation

•Spatially separated bifunctional cocatalyst decorated Z-scheme heterojunction of PdOx@HCdS@ZIS@Pt was designed.•PdOx@HCdS@ZIS@Pt exhibits superior photocatalytic H2 generation and benzylamine oxidation simultaneously.•Z-scheme heterojunction further enhances light utilization with strong oxidation and reduction capability.•Spatially separated cocatalysts promote the separation of photo-induced charge carriers.•The hollow structure of the heterostructure provides more active reaction sites and facilitates mass transfer.
