Optimal Scheduling of Mobile Energy Storage for Mitigating Voltage Problem in Distribution System

With the continuous increase in the penetration rate of intermittent renewable energy sources, the distribution grid may face multiple challenges in terms of system security and reliability, such as load leveling, peak shaving, voltage regulation, and emergency backup. The advancement of modern technology and the proliferation of high-rise buildings have promoted the development of distributed energy resources (DER). In this context, mobile power sources in conjunction with buildings can provide more flexible services to the distribution grid. This paper considers three types of DERs: distributed generators (DG), mobile energy storage systems (MESS), and demand response (DR), and proposes a joint scheduling model to optimize the operational cost of the distribution grid. The model also incorporates a 1-norm to optimize the number of activated MESS. The simulation analysis of this model is conducted on the IEEE 33-node system, and the results demonstrate that this optimization framework can reduce the number of activated devices and the operational cost of the system while maintaining system stability.
