3 A comprehensive review of cannabis phytocannabinoids

Cannabis sativa is one of the most extensively studied plants globally. It has been cultivated for thousands of years across the world for a variety of uses. While the seeds are of good nutritional value, fibers are used in textile products due to their durability. The plant has long been used in both recreational and medicinal purposes due to its psychotic and therapeutic effects. As such, it is highly important to understand the composition of the cannabis plant. This chapter provides a brief synopsis of the history, isolation, and structural elucidation for each of the 129 constituents classified as cannabinoid-type constituents.
