摘要
A variety of strategies exists in plants that protect them from increasing environmental threats. One of them is priming that plants employ against pathogen infections or climatic challenges. It is a critical process during which plants respond more efficiently to biotic and abiotic stresses. Omics approaches, that is, genomics, proteomics and metabolomics have been used to investigate priming in plants. A number of priming defense mechanisms have been studied against biotic factors (fungi, bacteria, viruses, arthropods, oocytes) and abiotic factors (drought, heat, salinity, waterlogging). In this chapter, we discuss the extensive applications of omics approaches for crop improvement with major focus on the abiotic and biotic stress tolerance in crops.
