•Grain size of reheated grain zone was larger than that of columnar grain zone.•Fluctuation was observed in the FCG rate curve in near-threshold regime.•Fracture morphology and FCG rate were related to grain size in weld metal.•Larger ferrite grain led to the intergranular fracture and decreased the FCG rate.
