Regulation of non-coding RNAs

Non-coding (nc) RNAs regulate many cellular processes, invoking important phenotypic outcomes. Thus, these powerful transcripts and their related functions must be carefully adjusted in response to the ever-changing environment. This chapter covers the critical aspects of the transcriptional and epitranscriptomic (post-transcriptional) regulation of ncRNAs. We include information regarding ncRNAs regulatory factors, the list of databases, and resources that can help integrate data regarding their regulation and function and assemble the regulatory circuits. We also describe the most prevalent epitranscriptomic signatures and their influence over ncRNAs’ structure, function, lifecycle, and the potential use of this knowledge for therapeutic intervention.
