摘要
Kidney stone disease (nephrolithiasis) is of increasing prevalence and affects almost 10% of Americans. Ureteroscopy (URS) is the most common surgery performed for the treatment of nephrolithiasis. The relatively high rate of unplanned healthcare encounters after this common surgery suggested an opportunity to improve the quality and safety of urologic care in Michigan. The Michigan Urological Surgery Improvement Collaborative (MUSIC), Reducing Operative Complications from Kidney Stones (ROCKS) has provided optimistic results and has offered practical strategies to decrease avoidable postoperative healthcare encounters and opioid prescriptions after nephrolithiasis treatment. Through MUSICs strategy, measuring to improve, and providing outcome data to physicians and practices, data can help motivate changes in behavior to align with best practices and improve patient care and experience.
