Machine learning approach reveals microbiome, metabolome, and lipidome profiles in type 1 diabetes

•We used multiple machine-learning algorithms to explore gut microbiota, serum metabolites, and lipids signatures in individuals with T1D.•Our findings provide new evidence investigating the interplay between the identified microbes and serum metabolites/lipids in shaping the host functional status and affecting the development and outcomes of T1D.•The merits of our study also included the well-characterized participants, the targeted and quantitative dimension of multi-omics, and the combined use of machine learning and other biostatistics.
