Design of a circular electron injection gun for terahertz traveling wave tubes

摘要
The electron gun is one of the core components of the traveling wave tube, and the performance of the traveling wave tube depends on the design quality of the electron gun. In this paper, a high compression ratio electron gun for a 0.34 THz traveling wave tube is investigated. The designed electron gun produces an electron beam with a beam waist radius of 0.047 mm and good electron laminar flow by simulation with CST Particle Studio. Analyzing the simulation results, the corresponding beam voltage is 21.9 kV, the beam current is 112 mA, and the obtained electron beam compression ratio is 68, and the obtained simulation results meet the requirements.
