Intelligent Navigation Decisions-Making in Curved Channels: Review and Challenges

Due to the terrain and river characteristics, navigating in curved channels can be challenging. The flow is often turbulent, and ships may face difficulty in maneuvering due to centrifugal force. This increases the risk of accidents, such as collisions or grounding caused by human error. To prevent such incidents, intelligent navigation decision-making can provide timely information to the crew for efficient manipulation. This paper begins by reviewing key technologies involved in intelligent navigation decision-making, including multi-source perception, static and dynamic decision-making, and the ship motion model. After summarizing existing research results, the challenges of intelligent navigation decision-making in curved channels are analyzed, and corresponding solutions proposed. These solutions provide theoretical and technical support for the development of ship intelligent navigation control systems.
