13-K Tnoise Cryo-CMOS Parametric Amplifier at 80 mK for Quantum Computers

This work presents a cryo-CMOS parametric amplifier (CPA) that uses variable capacitors at sub-Kelvin temperatures. We employed a double-balanced architecture and derived optimum matching conditions for maximizing the gain and minimizing the added noise from the amplifier. In the cryo-experimental setup at 80 mK, the implemented IC in 65 nm CMOS demonstrated power gain and noise temperature (T noise ) of 17 dB and 13 K, respectively, at 5.3 GHz. To the best knowledge of the authors, this is the lowest T noise to date for cryogenic CMOS amplifiers for quantum computers.
