Bridgeless Active PFC Modified Ćuk-based Rectifiers with Positive/Negative Output Voltage and Low Semiconductors Voltage Stress

This paper proposes two new bridgeless active rectifiers that have high step-up/step-down capability and low voltage stress across the semiconductors. These rectifiers are referred to as type-I and type-II, and they offer positive and negative dc voltage, respectively. This makes them suitable for use in applications that require a positive or negative dc power supply. One of the advantages of the proposed rectifiers is that they have a low number of components, which reduces cost and complexity. Additionally, they offer continuous input and output current, which eliminates the need for additional filters and improves efficiency. The proposed rectifiers have low ripple dc-link voltage, low total harmonic distortion, and almost unity power factor, which makes them suitable for use in single-phase grid-connected power supplies. The performance of the rectifiers is assessed using a 300 W, 110 Vac to $\pm \boldsymbol{180}$ Vdc prototype, and the results validate the theoretical analysis and demonstrate the applicability of these structures.
