Five-phase Harmonic-Excited Synchronous Machine for Hybrid Vehicle Application

摘要
This paper presents the design of a five-phase self-excited synchronous motor. The motor is designed for providing traction in a plug-in hybrid vehicle. The stator design consists of 10 slots concentrated wound topology, and the rotor is an eight-pole concentrated wound design, with two separate types of winding. This type of rotor structure eliminates the use of permanent magnets, as well as any external excitation components. Further, different operating points are simulated, and efficiency is calculated.
