Analyzing the Severity of Air Pollution in an Industrialized Suburb

The rapid industrialization and urbanization of developing cities have led to severe air pollution, caused mainly by transportation, construction activities, and solid fuel usage for heating and cooking. To address this issue, we have employed machine learning algorithms to analyze the severity of the air quality index and identify the key contributors to air pollution. By determining the most important features, decision-makers can focus on addressing these factors to mitigate air pollution levels. We have done our research study in Durgapur, an industrialized suburb in India, by installing air quality monitoring devices. Our analysis achieves 96% accuracy rate and identifies the crucial aspects such as temperature, humidity, and pollutants like CO and NO 2 . Furthermore, we surveyed residents to understand their experiences and concerns regarding air pollution.
