Pharmacovigilance monitoring and treatment adherence in patients on anti-tubercular drugs

•Increase in follow-up of patients on DOTS therapy increased adherence of patients with more chance of completion of therapy.•Adverse events are frequently encountered with treatment to DOTS therapy.•Tolerance develops with due course of time with the most frequent adverse event reported by patients being nausea.•Many factors are responsible for poor adherences like distance travelled by patients to visit the center, duration and timing of therapy.•Lack of caregivers, family support, and social support are a few other factors associated with poor adherence.
