摘要
•Dynamics and biophysical controls on nocturnal water loss (NWL) were analyzed.•Temperature difference (i.e., Ts-Ta) dominantly controlled NWL nocturnally.•Vapor pressure deficit (VPD) controlled much on NWL for both wheat and maize.•Soil volumetric water content (VWC) and Ts-Ta controlled NWL much interannually.•NWL decreased as Ta, VPD and VWC surpass a certain threshold during dry period.
