Pipe geometry effect on fatigue cracking location of 90° elbows under in-plane bending

摘要
•The criterion for fatigue cracking location for 90° elbows under in-plane bending is proposed.•The criterion is developed using elastic solutions and elastic-plastic FE analysis results.•The mean radius-to-pipe thickness ratio is found to be the most important parameter.•Comparison with published experimental data validates the proposed criterion.
