Single atom catalysts for organic pollutant degradation

The core challenge and technological bottleneck in global environmental pollution control is the deep treatment of refractory organic pollutants. Because of the unique electronic structure of unsaturated coordination and the clear coordination environment, single atom catalysts (SACs) show the advantages of 100% theoretical atomic efficiency, high catalytic performance and high selectivity, and are widely used in organic pollutant degradation. In this review, we focus on the synthesis strategies and advanced characterization methods of SACs, and summarize their innovative applications in organic degradation technologies. Systematically comparing and revealing the catalytic sites and related mechanisms of SACs in the degradation process. Finally, the challenges and future exploration directions of SACs in the degradation of organic pollutants were proposed. This provides guidance for the future industrial degradation of organic pollutants and provides new insights for potential research directions in subsequent degradation technologies.
