Motif-assisted Grid-connected Microgrid Planning in the Low-voltage Distribution Network

To deal with the characteristics of the random and intermittence of the distributed renewable resources such as solar and wind energy, the technology of microgrid has been paid much attention. A proper microgrid planning scheme can maximize the utilization of microgrid. The main factors considering in the objective of microgrid planning are the economic efficiency and reliability of the distribution network. However, the resilience is also a very important aspect. This paper proposes the mesoscopic concept of power motif to capture the dynamic structural feature of the distribution network and use the power motif to guide the process of the microgrid planning. The experiments conducted on the circuit of IEEE 34 test feeder testify the positive effectiveness of the application of power motif in improving the resilience of the distribution network and utilization of the grid-connected microgrid.
