SenCu as a Sensing System to Experience Programming Design.

In recent years, many educational institutions around the world have placed importance on children’s popular science education. To construct a robust scientific programming environment for children, the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI) developed a wireless sensing cube that cooperates with Scratch to perform programming education. This paper introduces a SenCu sensing system developed to allow children to experience programming design. A Scratch programming course with SenCu is presented to teach students Scratch programming and how to develop sensing applications. In addition, the TSRI team held a SenCu contest to encourage students to stimulate their creative thinking and design their own Scratch applications. The results and statistics for the Scratch course and contest are also analyzed and discussed.
