Ignition detection with the breakdown voltage measurement during nanosecond repetitively pulsed discharges

By applying an additional control pulse after the NRPD main ignition sequence, its breakdown voltage correlates with the subsequent heat release. Low breakdown voltages are related to successful ignition and fast-burning experiments, while higher breakdown voltages are related to quenching and slow-burning experiments.
