摘要
Pre-clinical Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) studies have previously demonstrated that neural activity, and in turn, perception of pain can be robustly modulated via the stimulation of different neuronal targets (e.g., dorsal Horn, dorsal column).1-4 A recent randomized controlled trial has also reported that a device capable of combining neurostimulative modalities (paresthesia-based + sub-perception-based) can produce highly effective analgesia.5 These results are at least in part thought to be facilitated by the stimulation of multiple simultaneous targets while engaging different putative mechanisms of action. In this real-world, observational study, we report long-term pain-relief outcomes out to 3-year follow-up in patients using an SCS device capable of combined use of multiple waveform options.
