fMRI Informed rTMS Trials in SUD

Through advances in neuroimaging research over the last several decades, we now have an increasingly refined understanding of the neural correlates of drug-taking behavior in humans. Non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, such as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), have emerged as novel brain-targeted approaches to normalizing brain abnormalities in SUDs, however, many questions remain regarding the mechanistic underpinnings of therapeutic rTMS, including characterization of individual differences in response to rTMS treatment.
