“Y-type” PEG modified liposomes could eliminate the accelerated blood clearance (ABC) phenomenon and improved tumor therapy

•The first application of Y-type PEG lipid instead of linear PEG to modify doxorubicin liposomes or topotecan liposomes.•First proof that Y-type DSPE-PEG modification can reduce the ABC phenomenon of DOX or TP liposomes.•Y-type DSPE-PEG modified liposomes induced low level of APAs which was helpful to avoid the ABC phenomenon.•Y-type DSPE-PEG modification provides great promise to eliminate ABC phenomenon and improve anti-tumor effect.
