Afterword: Researching IHRM in an uncertain world: methodological challenges and solutions

This chapter provides three methods-related suggestions that may be helpful for future research of human resource management (HRM) to understand the paradox and complexity in high uncertainty contexts. While software such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams may be able to provide some degrees of connectivity and interactions, this is highly contingent upon the availability of such technologies for both parties. Further, the collection of data in high-uncertainty and adversity environments may be time-bound/sensitive and linguistically challenging to non-native speakers. Collaborating with local researchers would be a productive way to overcome these constraints. The temporal and spatial dimensions of the phenomenon under investigation may offer insightful lenses through which theorisation can be carried out based on qualitative studies. Offering employees counselling and other wellness interventions are typical HRM services to support employees through trying times, leaving material support to public institutions or commercial provisions sourced by the individuals.
