Interference Mitigation for Multi-Stream Processing with Massive MIMO
crossref(2022)
Cyclic prefixed single carrier modulation (CP-SCM) takes the same symbol structure as the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). Accordingly, CP-SCM can be efficiently processed in the frequency domain for compensating channel effects and eliminating inter-symbol interference. Multi-stream processing (MSP) has recently been introduced as a resource allocation solution for CP-SCM. MSP can be implemented with a relatively small number of physical antennas while still operating in the massive MIMO regime due to the creation of virtual antennas. This paper explores another benefit of MSP: Interference Mitigation. MSP can operate in the same time domain duplexed band as interfering signals by rejecting interference at the receiver alone or coordinating with the transmitter to avoid interfered portions of the spectrum. We provide details on multiple interference mitigation techniques along with analysis and simulation results.
