Matrix Pencil Based Synchrophasor Measurement Withstanding Out-of-Band Interference

Out-of-band Interference(OOBI) caused by harmonics and inter-harmonics has become the main factor affecting the accuracy of synchrophasor measurement. To this end, this article proposed a Matrix Pencil(MP) method based on Singular Value Decomposition(SVDMP) for the OOBI contaminated synchrophasor estimation. The proposed method uses Singular Value Decomposition(SVD) to determine the number of components in the input signal and mitigate the noise interference. By solving the eigenvalues of the MP composed of two Hankel matrices derived from input signal, the frequency and attenuation factor can be obtained. Finally, the amplitude and phase of the input signal can be estimated using a Least Square Method(LSM). The performance of SVDMP is validated by various simulation signals model specified in the C37.118.1 standard and by a real grid fault data from a fault recorder installed in a substation.
