Production potential of seaweed and shellfish integrated aquaculture in Narragansett Bay (Rhode Island, U.S.) using an ecosystem model

•Ecosystem models provide production estimates for integrated seaweed and shellfish aquaculture.•Sugar kelp grows well in Narragansett Bay and could provide additional revenue for oyster farmers.•Potential profits range from $4468 to $17,872 for a 1-hectare farm.•Sugar kelp also fixed as much as 1117 kg N ha−1 and 6184 kg C ha−1.
