摘要
A total of two sediment core were acquired from the Malay Basin and the Straits of Malacca to investigate sedimentary deposition and process of 210Pb. At the site studied, the average 210Pb activity were 111.47 +/- 15.01 Bq/kg and 126.38 +/- 16.8 Bq/kg at M17 and M43, respectively, with difference of both stations at 10%. Both stations receive a different sediment input from each region which supplies to respective water masses, thus leading to the elevated 210Pb concentration in both stations. Hydrological processes through temporal difference affecting the physical processes and later influence the rate of sedimentation processes. Since monsoonal system affecting the motion of hydrological forces, the response of mechanism of grain size effect towards 210Pb were altered following monsoonal-induced current in conjunction with clay as prominent carrier for both sediment cores, thus having an immediate effect on the current sedimentary deposition. In addition, inventories and flux of Malay Basin and Straits of Malacca shows the monsoonal effect as main contributor for the several hydrological forces affecting the 210Pb along with effective scavenging of 210Pb between water-sediment interface thus affecting the total 210Pb flux and inventories in sediment core.
