Shut-down Strategy of PEMFC Power System Based on Pulse Current Control Method

The proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) power system operates under a variety of conditions due to changes in load demand, among which the shutdown process and shutdown state are the key factors that affect the system's health state and economics. Therefore, it is of great significance to explore a reasonable shutdown strategy for the healthy and reliable operation of the system. In this paper, a pulse current control method is proposed to release the residual energy and maintain the system shutdown state within the range of low voltage and safe pressure during the shutdown process, in view of the cell voltage and pressure operation characteristics and the ideal state requirements for cell voltage and pressure during the shutdown process. The method is crucial for the power system to swiftly maintain the ideal state during a short or long downtime through mechanism and data model simulation of reactant supply, and the analysis of shutdown test experiments.
